Not as narratively strong as the first in the series, but I loved how the threads of the characters, science, and music came together in the end.

Unmade takes off where Entangled left off. Cade and her band of outlaws are back, and like all good sequels, things have only gotten worse. In the last book they were simply trying to save one human, now they have to save the human race. If you enjoyed Entangled, you'll enjoy Unmade, though you might have to shake your head a bit through some of the wild and crazy adventure.

I started this book not realizing it was part of a continuing story. So at first I was totally lost. It did take a few tries before I fell fully into the story but when I did it was a Hell of a ride.

I thought the first book was an incoherent mess with a lot happening. Whenever I DNF a book I wonder if it's my fault - what didn't I get about this book? In the case of Unmade what I didn't get within the first 100 pages was a clear idea of who was who and what was going on. In part that's because this is a sequel and there was no real "Previously..." provided (there are allusions, but nothing direct to say "this is my friend --- with whom I ----" or somesuch). It was as if the author had one large manuscript and just halved it to make two books. So if you did re...

And the weirdness continues. In my comments on the first book (Entangled), I mentioned that this story would work better on the big screen. It goes double for this book. I found certain stretches of it almost boring to read. Certain plot points felt unfinished (Cade's mom in particular)...and the major "twist" (for lack of a better word) at the end was almost too outlandish for words. Maybe try it in a movie and we'll believe it, but I think it sort of failed as a book.

The second installment of the Entangled series, Unmade finishes off the story of Entangled in a very disappointing and erratic manner. I found Unmade's plot to be very badly written, and all over the place. It was hard to follow and uninteresting to read. The characters are very badly developed in this novel. A satisfying conclusion to the story that began with ENTANGLED! The premise is original, the characters are delightful, the world of the story is fully realized, and the writing is gorgeous and poetic. I really appreciate the blend of action and internal reflection, and so many times throughout this book, Amy Rose Capetta describes a feeling or sensation in a spot-on way that's immediately recognizable to me even though I never would have been able to articulate it.
