This is the story of inter-nation intrigue of a very modern kind. Here silent inter-nation warfare is waged by sophisticated technicians; and the issue of personal freedom versus national security becomes a huge dilemma. It is also a story of mounting and finally explosive suspense. John Ross, a young scientist, has discovered a means of preventing air collisions; but it is considered so important to national security that Ross may not keep his own discovery, or make it public. Embittered, aware that his technique for aircraft safety can be turned into a method of destruction, constantly watched by security people, Ross is ready to listen to a Russian agent who urges him to attend a scientific conference in Edinburgh. But before he leaves the US the lonely John Ross has fallen in love with Denise Walden, a girl with a much stronger character than his own. The main action of I Hide, We Seek takes place in Scotland. There it becomes three people's story; of John Ross, now the prisoner of a veteran Russian agent named Miller; of Denise Walden who has come at Ross's request; and of Alan Bennett, a cool, brilliant American professional in espionage. Their stories climax in a magnificent chase sequence in the wild Highlands.
