St Cuthbert desired to become a monk as a boy after witnessing St Aidan?s spirit being carried into heaven by angels. He became a monk at Melrose,then Prior and Bishop at Lindisfarne. During his lifetime he became famous for his healings and miracles, and even after death miraculous healings at his graveside would take place. His resting place has been a place of pilgrimage for over thirteen hundred years. After the Viking invasion the monks were forced to abandon their priory at Lindisfarne taking St Cuthbert's coffin with them. He now lies in Durham Cathedral. This book is to share with you the story of the most popular saint in Northern England, St Cuthbert.
