Pulp Science Fiction of the 1950s - An Anthology - Vol. I - Martians!

Pulp Science Fiction of the 1950s - An Anthology - Vol. I - Martians!

The 1950s were my formative years. Looking back 50+ years I can readily recall my father's small collection of science fiction magazines with their brightly colored, exotic and sometimes lurid covers. With titles such as Galaxy, If, Fantastic, Other Worlds, and Amazing Stories, these magazines were my introduction to the mind expanding world of Science Fiction. During the late 1960s I came to idolize some of my favorite authors - Robert A. Heinlein, Isaac Asimov, Poul Anderson, and Arthur C. Clarke. They continued to impress me well into the 1970s and 80s.

Sadly, the heyday of short science fiction is long gone. However, this anthology of SF tales, featuring ten stories, is an attempt to revive memories of those by-gone days, even if for just a few hours.

This, the first volume of what I hope will become a series of anthologies, features stories all at least loosely based on one of early SF's most popular themes: Martians!

The tales range from short-short stories such as Robert Moore Williams' The Next Time We Die, to Leigh Brackett's complete novella, Black Amazon of Mars.

So curl up in your favorite easy chair and prepare to enter the literary time machine transporting you back to the 1950s - the days of Eisenhower, communist witch-hunts, and bug-eyed-monsters.
