Drawing from Biblical principles, her own interests, and favorite movies, she hoped to marry a spiritually-deep, blond pianist. Jason also had an outline for his dream girl. His princess had to love Jesus and love people just like his parents did. But when it came to specifics, Jason saw himself with an introverted athlete -- someone a lot like him.

While at college, Katie and Jason thought they'd found their picture-perfect matches. But soon they realized that their fairy tale sketches just wouldn't fit the frame. That's because God had a bigger, better picture in mind. Throughout the narrative, Jason and Katie learn that waiting for God involves actively trusting and obeying Him day by day, rather than taking matters into their own hands. They also learn that loving one another in the valor of purity requires dependence on God's strength and not their own.

"We can only know true love when we realize how God loved us," Katie says. "We can only know true victory when we fight in His power. And we can only know true joy when we trust Him to design our personal plotlines."

Everything else is just a fairy tale.
