Alcoholism: Love In A Bottle

Alcoholism: Love In A Bottle

Ruby J. Howard
0/5 ( ratings)
Alcholism, Love in a Bottle gives an eyewitness view of the destructive power of alcoholism. It offers hope to abusers and their loved ones alike. The latter suffer residual effects of the addiction that are no less damaging than the addiction itself. The practical message of Alcoholism, Love in a Bottle, embodies these words from Scripture:
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble, with the comfort we ourselves have received from God" NIV).
While the language of this book is compassionate, it is realistic, thought provoking, and constructive as well. It alerts individuals who abuse alcohol to the destructive, far-reaching effects of their addiction. The book can enlighten loved ones of the alcoholic as well. Alcoholism is truly a family affair. In addition, Alcohol, Love in a Bottle might motivate abusers to obtain help before they lose family, other close relationships, jobs, health, and self-respect. For those who have already forfeited these treasures, but continue to abuse alcohol, it might prevent loss of physical life.
The problem of alcohol is growing. Still, debate surrounds the effect drinking has on American society. The World Health Organization estimates that about 76 million people throughout the world suffer from alcohol-related disorders. According to recent studies, approximately 53% of adults in the United States have reported that one or more of their close relatives has a drinking problem. Alcohol dependence and alcohol abuse cost the United States an estimated $220 billion in 2005. This dollar amount was more than the cost associated with obesity or with cancer .
Even in light of these staggering statistics, many continue to abuse alcohol. A number of these individuals struggle with deep feelings of insecurity or lack of personal value. Alcohol numbs the senses and makes them less aware of their emptiness. While there may be other contributors to alcoholism, this book presents a totally viable and proven Alternative to emptiness or insecurity: Jesus Christ, Himself. He can fill the gaping chasm with affection, acceptance, and approval that every human being needs. The love He offers comes from His heart, not from a bottle. This book invites alcohol abusers to "come to Him, and drink....".
