Why didn't anyone tell me before!?

Why didn't anyone tell me before!?

Introduction:

I don’t know exactly why I was blessed with a heightened awareness of the world during my teenage years. I would often stand puzzled as my friends cried over “the only boy they’ll ever love”. Thinking “you’re 16… obviously there will be others” I’d sit back in the lunch room watching the odd formations of tables, grouped by wealth, color, popularity, wannabees, filler people, jocks, Goths. You get the point. I’d think how did these sections come about and who had decided you should only belong to the group you were in. And why do we all flock like sheep? To cross over to a different group was unheard of and usually only happened after you had been kicked out of your former group. I’d see kids fighting with their parents over everything from clothes to curfews. I saw through a lot of the actions and behavior of my peers. I always seemed to realize my life wasn’t over if a certain boy didn’t talk to me. I also knew that my parents weren’t ruining my life by setting rules. I always knew there was more, but so many don’t. I’d ask myself, “Why are things like this” and the sad answer is simply that there was no why. That the why of it all didn’t matter, it doesn’t matter. So now that you know, let’s move on. It’s written somewhere that if you know the future the knowledge you possess may alter yours. Well here’s to hoping that’s true. This is my view. My thoughts, my advice and warnings that I believe everyone should hear, things I believe young adults should know. Some of this is shocking, and meant to be so. We remember and learn things that shock us. They have a greater affect on our lives and how we lead them. So many people say if I knew then what I know now… I would have done things differently. In my writing this I am trying to give young adults the information they need to make informed and responsible decisions. This is more of a manual, the one that you weren’t born with.

May it make the rollercoaster of your teenage years a little less painful,
