Although most of this set is devoted to major cello concertos that Du Pr?? played so well, perhaps the most treasurable recording is one of two Beethoven cello sonatas with the pianist Stephen Bishop . Recorded very early in her career, these show Du Pr?? at her most eloquent, the early promise of a great career so cruelly interrupted. This set includes most of the cellists best recordings. Too bad its not 10 times the size. If the cellists passion occasionally seems excessive, at least its the right kind of flaw to have. --Leslie Gerber
