A Christmas Treasury by Dover, Clement Clarke Moore, A Christmas Treasury by Dover, Clement Clarke Moore, Carolyn S. Hodgman is a classic children's fiction book with delightful illustrations. I gave it four stars.I received a complimentary Kindle copy from Dover Publications and NetGalley. That did not change my opinion for this review.Link to purchase: https://www.amazon.com/Christmas-Trea...
I enjoyed the old fashioned pictures and verses, but for the most part I did not like this collection of stories. Many of the pictures did not match the text at all. For example, in Twas the Night Before Christmas, a picture of children playing by a Christmas Tree with no Santa in sight is used for the verse "He was dressed all in fur..." Don't forget, the children are in bed during this part of the story!!! Another thing I do not like about this collection is there is no continuity of the illus...
Return to the days when your great-grands were tots - 1917 - when airplanes looked like souped up Wright Brothers' originals and the USA was entering World War I - Woodrow Wilson was President and early motor cars were scaring horses out of their harnesses. This is the Christmas anthology your great-grands might have been given by one of their aunts - I don't mean it's not cool - it is - very much so, with neat illustrations that tell you just maybe, even with World War I happening - it was a swe...
This anthology of Christmas stories was nicely done with gorgeous illustrations that looked antique in a beautiful way. My daughter was enthralled by the pictures, and easily recognized Santa, despite his less than modern appearance. The stories were cute and simple as well, and since they were short, they easily kept my daughters attention. I will be adding this to our holiday reading list for next year again since my daughter seemed to really enjoy it. I received a copy of this book in exchang...
For young children who like to read or listen tostories, this book will delight both reader andteller of the short well known Christmastales and poems. Some stories are from the turn of the 20th century making them new to many.Images are taken from well known children'sillustrators. It would open the eyes of the youngto what was popular almost 100 years ago.
I really like the way this was done and the kids really got into the old-fashioned pictures. Basically, this is a set of popular Christmas stories told mainly through pictures that look like old-fashioned postcards. The last two stories - Polar Bear at the Zoo and Christmas ABC - are actual stories, where the other ones have very few words. The pictures were beautiful and kept their attention - and without a lot of words, it gave them the chance to tell their own stories using the pictures, some...

This review originally published in Looking For a Good Book. Rated 4.0 of 5Ah, sweet nostalgia! This book is a throwback to a simpler and often more elegant time.Dover Publications has put together a collection (or 'treasury') of stories, poems, and illustrations from the turn of the century. Clement Moore's "The Night Before Christmas" is a perennial classic and would be obvious if it were missing, but the inclusion of lesser-known works makes this a gem. Our bookstores and bookshelves are ov...
I am always on the watch for books that I can share as reading adventures with my children and grandchildren. "A Christmas Treasury" is a collection of classic holidays that can never be read enough or too often. This is truly a treasury - of those stories that are meant to be shared through the ages.
A great collection of Christmas stories. I love reading Christmas stories with my children during the holidays. This is one book that will definitely be on my list to read with them. The illustrations will captures the childrens attention and the stories will resonate with the readers. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review via Netgalley.
Classic Christmas stories presented so beautifully with gorgeous illustrations. A keepsake for family traditions during the holiday year after year.
Old fashioned Christmas stories give you an idea about what Christmas was like 100 years ago! Nothing like Christmas stories of today. Great for holiday lovers and also history buffs!
