Once there was a King who had eight fiddlers, a wise cat named Joachim, and a peaceful kingdom filled with beautiful music. There was nothing that made the King happier than to listen to the royal fiddlers. When the fiddlers played, and they played often, the king opened his palace to all his subjects who came to sing and to dance.
But there was one group of people who did not attend the concerts—the royal accountants. They spent their time counting the King's money and every time they did, there was less of it.
One day the accountants insisted that the King do something about this sad state of affairs. They could see but one way to save money: Fire the fiddlers!
Once the music stops, great sadness befalls the kingdom. But luckily Joachim, the King's feline friend, comes to the rescue and brings music back to the kingdom forever.
World-famous violinist Yehudi Menuhin has written a charming parable that will delight all young musicians.
