We Are Glass

We Are Glass

Steve Hussy
0/5 ( ratings)
Fat Eddie lies in his bed pumped full of drugs, dying of cancer. His death-room stinks of decay and it seeps from under his door into the shared stair-well of the roominghouse...

Frederick Cireman, a once successful opera composer is found dead amongst the squalor that his life has become. His essence imprinted only in the work he's left behind...

Joe Fuegi, born with one leg and now also with a growing tumour on his face, wishes he was like his collection of tin soldiers. They are hollow and cannot be hurt. But he is painfully aware that if you have a heart this world will eventually drive a nail right through it...

Such are the characters in 'We Are Glass.' They are the people life has broken who can find no place in the world. They awake to dirty, black-skied mornings and drift desolately through their days lingering on past glories like a tree blackened by lightning. As they shed their skins like snakes, desperately trying to renew themselves they find fleeting moments of escape in drink, drugs and passing sexual encounters as a substitute for love. Ultimately these are people who know unquestionably that, in the end, it all amounts to nothing.

Author Richard Godwin calls this acclaimed debut collection of short stories from u.v.ray a "Dark, suggestive rebellion; a challenge to the status quo." And publisher Steve Hussy states that it "Refuses to fit the conventions of even outsider literature."
