Maia Madden originally from France came to the United States when she was a toddler. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Comparative Literature from New College, Florida, and a Master's degree in Journalism from the University of California, Berkeley. Maia lives in Santa Cruz, California with her Pug-a-Poo, Rocky, and, lest she forget, her patient, forgiving partner.

She has worked as a writer and editor for various publications, including the Yoga Journal, AM/PM Guide to Northern California, Gentry Magazine, Penny Express and multiple editions of the Epicurean Rendezvous Restaurant Guide. Her most relevant credential, however, is that she has always loved dogs: Kiss, Miss, Yuki, Sharetha, Sage, Abu, Tiny, Aiko and now, Rocky the rock star. They are her inspiration.
