I liked it but I wouldn't really call it a prelude. More of a book of ultron battles. Still a good read.
the last page was a serve!
The straight from the movies part of the prelude was somewhat annoying, but I did enjoy seeing the older Ultron comics. For people like me who did not grow up with the comics, it was a good selection.
Ultron is a good reason not to pursue artificial intelligence. He's never really beaten in the end.
The first 40ish pages are an unnecessary retelling of the Avengers movie, and trying to cram a 2-1/2 movie into 40 pages of comic leaves you with a very jumpy, confusing, and incomplete story. Good thing I saw the movie. Then comes the 1960’s first appearance of the Vision and the Vision origin story. I know these are classic stories, but they just don’t hold up all that well 50 years later. They seem a little silly, and the characters (over) act like they are in the 1960’s. The best bit is the
In principle the preludes are a great idea, it's a way of getting people who love the marvel cinematic universe to read comics. It is both brilliant and disappointing when reading the comic version of the films, they add stuff but equally may miss out you favourite part. I feel like Seth Cohen at the beginning of Season 2 of the OC showing utter contempt at a child asking for the comic of a movie, as the original source material will always be better. The prelude itself is okay, it's much better...
This is a collection of different stories in the Marvel universe. There is a retelling of the movie Avengers and the post credit scene of Captain America: Winter Soldier. The rest of the collection are different stories concern Ultron.I didn't think this was the greatest collection as this didn't seem like a prelude to the movie. The retelling of the first movie was so condensed and with this condensation, it lost its "wow factor" The additional information for the post credit scene was the only...
Good comic book. Can't wait to see Avengers: Age of Ultron!!
The biggest problem I have with this book is the packaging- it's a Primer and NOT a Prelude. There is absolutely no reason to include Avengers 1-2 (movie adaptation) in this book so immediately you're ripped off. The next story leads directly into the second film, but doesn't really tell you anything you haven't learned already. Then you get the Vision Origin (again); The final two parts of an epic 90s era Avengers/Ultron throw down; and the teaser book from the original 2010 Age of Ultron mega
This was annoying because it didn’t really contribute anything. It had an annoying retelling of Avengers where the characters looked nothing like their movie counterparts/actors and dialogue was taken verbatim only to have pieces from sentences then removed to make it disjointed. The only story that was truly a prelude was explaining how Loki's septer got to Struker, and the old stories from the 60s were neat, but it was annoying that they were all pieces and not a full story arc. Definitely not...
This ended up being more interesting than I thought. While I technically got this before I saw the Age of Ultron movie (like, five minutes before in a prize raffle), I didn't read it until after the movie. I probably would have made sense to read this before seeing the movie, because this book doesn't just rehash the story from the first Avengers movie (though it does do that), it introduces the reader to some of the new characters. This book collects eight separate comics. The first two retell t...
This is probably the most disappointing of all the prelude books. If you know a little about the Avengers and you’ve seen all the other films, you’re covered. Don’t bother with this. It becomes especially pointless once you’ve actually seen the film, because it includes background on the Vision and Ultron which doesn’t apply so much anymore. Okay, it’s kind of cool to see a much more diverse team, including Jessica and Carol, but nearly all of this stuff is available elsewhere, and a big chunk o...
Feel pretty "meh" about this to be honest. Most of it was just comic version of the avengers movie and the rest was random stories which didn't really do much for me. I liked the collection of different art work as I thought that was pretty cool. The best part of this prelude would have to be that you get a bit more of an origin story to wanda and pietra which was what made this worth the read really!
Liked it
This is something of a mixed bag. The biggest problem is that is not really a prelude, not in the way other Marvel film preludes are. It's more like a companion to the upcoming film. First up there's a comic book adaptation of the first Avengers film. It doesn't do anything exciting and literally just shows what we see on screen. I felt that it suffered from being a 2 hour film stuffed into the size of two comic books, which meant some of the best dialogue was lost and the action scenes were bar...
Book Review by: Sharon Powers. Marvel has come out with a very popular line of books--new Marvel movies are presaged by "Prelude" books. With all the excitement over the summer block-buster, Age of Ultron, Marvel, it seems, also intended to cash in on a glossy new "Prelude" book for the Age of Ultron, as well. So, here we have it. Marvel Authors, Jack Penn and Joss Whedon, have collected under this one title, Marvel's Avengers 1 and 2; Avengers: Cinematic Infinite Comic 1; Avengers (1963) Nos.
This is essentially a promotional book, released to hype the second Avengers film. It contains a comic adaptation containing most of the plot of the first Avengers movie, plus adaptations end-credit scenes and DVD extras to bridge the gap leading up to Age of Ultron. The film adaptations take up about the first fourth of this graphic novel. The remainder is reprints of classic Avengers stories involving Ultron, starting with the original appearance of Ultron and the Vision in 1963, 1998's ultron
This book collects three comics that tie directly into the Avengers movie series. Marvel's The Avengers 1-2 does a decent job of summarizing the plot of the original Avengers film but loses a lot of the personality and fun that made it such a great film and fun story.Avengers: Cinematic Infinite Comic 1: Expands a bit on what Baron Strucker was doing before the start of the film. It's not bad and a fair edition. After this, we get into comics that don't actually tie into the movies by give you c...
This is another nice entry into the Marvel "Prelude" collections. The first part is a two-issue recap of the first Avengers movie. "This Scepter'd Isle" focuses on villain Baron Strucker and offers a new introduction to Wanda and Pietro Maximoff (although I prefer the X-Men version that Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver are Magneto's children). The inclusion of the 1968 first appearance of the Vision served as a happy blast from the past for this GenX-er (and for new comic readers, a look at the long-...
