Un must-have quand on apprécie particulièrement les couvertures de M. Simonetti :) Comme il a engendré chez moi pas mal de pulsions d'achats livresques, je fais bien évidemment partie de cette communauté. Le genre d'ouvrage qu'on feuillettera toujours de temps en temps, juste par plaisir, pour la beauté des images.
Absolutely gorgeous art, and a really interesting look into the process of drawing for various authors, how involved they are, and what it takes to end up with the beautiful final products you see throughout this book. I love his art style, how versatile it is, how he can capture an emotion, a world, and condense it into a breathtaking package that makes you want to immediately read whatever he's depicting. This is a gorgeous book. As I leaf through it, I see covers of books I own, covers of books I now want to own, images from video games, sketches next to the finished art. Page 227 is a wonderful example of the breadth of the illustrations. We go from The Flying Dutchman to Robot Lady on a single page, with stops at The Winger Landscape and Turtle Temple. On page 118, there is an unused illustration for Royal Assassin. It's Fitz crouching down to peer into the crate that holds as yet unnamed wolf...
This is an absolutely beautiful book - Marc Simonetti's covers are simply stunning. Perfect for fans of Terry Pratchett, George R.R. Martin and fantasy/sci-fi art in general.
