Inner Workings: The Origin and Meaning of the Master's Word

Inner Workings: The Origin and Meaning of the Master's Word

C. Bruce Hunter
2.5/5 ( ratings)
This book explores the history of one of Freemasonrys great mysteries who's meaning no one seems to know.

Although every Mason learns "The Word" during his initiation, its details were lost at some point in the fraternities early history, an elusive time from which very few records survive. When a new ritual was created in the 1720s they gave this single word a crucial role in the legend of the third degree.

This book is the results of years of research and more than a few in depth discussions involving the time and energy of several people. It is undoubtedly speculation, but it is far from idle. Mr. Hunter has approached the subject on the basis that the Masons who created the modern fraternity were well aware of the importance of the ritual and they designed its ritual to invite speculation.
