In February of 2013, fiction authors were asked to write a short story in the apocalypse genre. The challenge was to include three highlights: an appointment, a mysterious ship, and a rock or asteroid. An optional background was given where a character in the story was perhaps forced to cancel an appointment. Somewhere in the story, almost half of the ships on Earth were destroyed. The author was asked to decide what caused this destruction, if the character had anything to do with it, and if the character can help prevent another devastating catastrophe.
