The Reluctant Ambassador

The Reluctant Ambassador

The Reluctant Ambassador:

The Reluctant Ambassador is a twenty-four hour excursion into the wild side of the Kootenay Mountains, where all life forms must adapt to the rapidly changing environment, and humans are but intrusive aliens.
***
One minute Sandy Austin is flying her floatplane over the expansive range of mountains towards the bright setting sun and her small home town, a fine ending to her first solo flight, her first time alone. Without warning the windshield implodes.
The next thing the high school student knows it is night, and she is flat on the cold ground regaining consciousness. There is a stiff tree bark cast on her arm, and a large mule deer is up close, sniffing at her face. Worse, an enormous, hairy body the size of a walrus is sleeping warmly by her side. It smells like compost and is starting to wake up.
The malodorous young male is Feanore, and the buck is called Boo, but the renegade wolf pack lurking in the shadows does not care for names. Sasquatch, deer, or human - one way or another - they will have fresh meat to eat. All they have to do is stay hidden and wait.
***
Is the gap between Human Nature and Mother Nature so vast it can never be bridged? When Death howls in the night, is there any separation at all?
