Psychedelic Press UK 2013 (PsypressUK)

Michael Montagne
5/5 ( ratings)
The second edition of the Psychedelic Press UK journal - A collection of learned articles and essays on psychedelics and entheogens, and their role in culture, science, and history. There is a whole cycle of great articles in this edition. Sadly, psychedelic researcher Steve Abrams passed away in 2012. With great reverence, his memory and work can live on in parapsychologist and psychedelic researcher Dr. David Luke’s obituary - The Psychedelic Trickster. And, after the tragic death of psychedelic research for so many years, it’s a pleasure to include Dr. Ben Sessa’s Portrait of a Psychedelic Researcher; marking the way for the fields rebirth in the Twenty-First Century.

Of course, as Alan Watts said, “when we dance, the journey itself is the point” and Mark Flaherty describes his South American journey with ayahuasca; with demonic realizations and ancient confrontations. Knowing our history is always a prescient factor to understanding the future and Scott Teitsworth, in The Golden Apples of Immortality, examines creation myths and their psychedelic messages; messages with value and meaning that are delineated in Michael Montagne’s concluding article on the psychedelic experience
.
Myths have always circled psychedelics like bees around honey and Andy Roberts examines the history of the ‘LSD in the water supply’ myth. Jack Hunter, in part one of his history on psychedelics and anthropology, looks at researchers increasingly desiring their own presence in the object of their study, in an attempt to do away with scholarly myth in order to better understand the indigenous way of botanical trips. Researcher Dimka Drewczynski discusses the nature of our psychedelic perceptions and what basis this may have as an underlying reality. And, lastly, About Yellow shows us that we can face the fears of our journey, using our perception, to construct our world anew; ultimately empowering us each with the ability of rebirth.
