In A Different World: A Teenage Girls Battle With Autism and Mental Health

Hannah Barlett
0/5 ( ratings)
"In a Different World" Is a heartfelt memoir about a young girl with Asperger Syndrome trying to struggle through secondary school and beyond. Hannah battles with complex obsessions, over powering feelings and the never-ending feeling of being misunderstood.

Hannah feels like she is in a different world than her peers and other people around her who are so much different than she is. As she enters the adolsecent period and starts secondary school, a new part of her life begins. Hannah has an over powering obsession with a teacher that effects her friendships, relationships, her education and just about everything else.

Hannah is a typical girl with Asperger Syndrome and posesses all the regular symptoms. Even though there are so many people who are trained in this modern day, Hannah battles everyday with teachers, peers and support assistants alike, who don't understand her and a lot of whom don't even try. Hannah's behaviour turns aggressive and hostile as her school years went on as she was fed up with being misunderstood and being treated badly by the people that were meant to help her. Hannah is labelled as a physical risk to people around her and was treated like she was a criminal as no one could understand her way of communicating.

Hannah is desperate to live a normal life and have a career but will her overpowering thoughts and battles with misunderstanding and arrogant people stop her from achieving this?

A true compelling story.
