Terror Tales Arthur J. Burks
Book 1

These exciting pulp adventures have been beautifully reformatted for easy reading as an eBook. As a special bonus, Will Murray has written an introduction especially for this Terror Tales series of eBooks.

In 1934 a new type of magazine was born. Known by various names — the shudder pulps, mystery-terror magazines, horror-terror magazines — weird menace is the sub-genre term that has survived today. Terror Tales magazine was one of the most popular. It came from Popular Publications, whose publisher Harry Steeger was inspired by the Grand Guignol theater of Paris. This breed of pulp story survived less than ten years, but in that time, they became infamous, even to this day. This ebook contains a collection of stories from the pages of Terror Tales magazine, all written by Arthur J. Burks, reissued for today’s readers in electronic format.

Table of Contents:

Terror Tales — An Introduction

Six Doors to Horror — March 1935 issue of Terror Tales

To that grim house where men had died, Kwan Chiao brought his white friends — to meet the fierce red wind that killed.

Could Maria Tejada call on those glowing corpse-candles to snare the heart of the man she wanted — and to infect his betrothed with the silver plague...?

by Arthur J. Burks
Sitting before their empty plates in that ghastly banquet hall, what strange fare did those weird men await? Why did they stare at Darda with haunted, hungry eyes?

When a Corpse Commands — August 1935 issue of Terror Tales
by Arthur J. Burks
Was Lea Bres, made mad by the terror of dead men’s tyranny, actually already a murderess as she ran naked and screaming through the woods, away from that grisly House of Hex?

No Man Escapes Me! — September 1935 issue of Terror Tales
