Henry has always lived his life, under his Mother's strict guiding thumb, and tied to her almost suffocating apron strings.
He has always worked in the same office, in the same location, since he first started work … gradually moving up the promotional ladder.
When his Mother becomes seriously ill, he takes redundancy and nurses her until her inevitable decease.
He is now a free man, and the world ought to be his oyster … but he has been socially out of loop for about a year, due to him caring for his Mother, and is at a loss as to what he is going to do with himself now she's gone.
At her funeral he meets up with his only remaining living relative.
His strange mysterious Aunt, whom he has never knowingly met has come over from France for the funeral.
He finds that his Aunt Evie has led a really bizarre life, living on several continents, with various unsuitable men, unable to settle down and without really knowing quite what she wanted from life..
