This is the thrilling story of a young man, Alfie, who has a lust for adventure. He’s supposed to finish his apprenticeship but avoids this by not filling in the National Service deferment forms. He kisses his girlfriend good bye to go unknowingly on a journey of a lifetime. Through foolish naivety and the inexperience of youth, he serves five years in the French Foreign Legion. Alfie fights in the war of troubles against the Algerian rebellion; he serves as batman to the General who led the Legion into the uprising against the French Governments’ policy of giving independence to Algeria. Due to his position, Alfie learns the whereabouts of the finances to assist the army in the proposed rebellion. When the putsch inevitably collapses, Alfie becomes a hunted man by those who have one over-riding ambition: to hunt down the hiding place of the Generals’ gold!
