Life was very peaceful in the town of Montville… until the sinister disappearances.
One by one, children vanished from their beds in the dead of night, never to be seen again. There were few clues: a fetid pile of earth left in gardens and a stale stench of… evil.
The terrible events had a disastrous effect on the town and its
prosperity; ‘For Sale’ signs stood on front lawns and businesses folded, as tourism slumped. The people of Montville were certain the town had been cursed.
No one had any answers as to whom or what, was behind the curse.
Apart from one person, Liza Murton - who had kept a very dark secret for many years and she now felt the time was right to pass the secret on.
The only person she trusted to keep the knowledge safe, was her beloved grandchild, Lucy Parker and Lucy, in turn, told her best friend, Sam.
Overnight, Lucy and Sam turned from average kids into super-sleuths – and began their hunt for the child takers.
Together with Winston The Cat, they set out under the terrified town to discover just what was going on – and what they found was so hideous that its reverberations can still be felt today – throughout the world.
