http://pebbleinthestillwaters.blogspo...Book Review: #AvastAirships An Interesting Anthology Of Tales On Steampunk, Airships And PiratesAvast, Ye Airships edited by Rie Sheridan Rose is an interesting collection of 18 fiction tales in 312 pages. The variety of stories in this anthology keeps it interesting. There is no fixed length of each and hence you can select as per your choice without bothering to read them in the same sequence as they are presented. Probably each story will connect with y...
Great collection of steampunk short stories! Unique adventure, pirates of all kinds, and all kinds of strange gizmos! My top favorites were "Beneath The Brass" by Stephen Blake, a diary of a traumatized woman looking for adventure and finding some betrayal, "The Clockwork Dragon" by Steve Cook, a story of betrayal and revenge, and "Lotus of Albion" by Steve Ruskin, the tale of romance... and betrayal. While there were a couple stories that I was scratching my head at, most of them were fun and e...
It's a stay up at night,at the edge of your seat, dig in your nails to your e-reader,bite your lips enough to draw blood kinda read.
This is a collection of 18 short stories with a whole host of airships, pirates and all other manor of weird and wonderful steampunk gadgets. Now I am not really into the steampunk genre as I just really don’t understand it, but after reading this collection of stories I realise that I have been missing out an a pretty great genre. It is hard to pick a favourite out of the collection but I really enjoyed the first story “Beneath the Brass” if I had not enjoyed that, I think I would have found it h...
Avast, Ye Airships! is a wonderful little gem of steampunk airship fantasy. All of the stories in it are well-written and intriguing. While they all have the same premise, a steampunk story set on an airship, each author contributes a story that is completely original and different from the others. While some are more “traditional” steampunk (Victorian England), there are others that are romance, adventure, scifi, horror, and even Southern steampunk. The stories are varied in length and style. Avast! - What a Great Read!I am lucky enough to have an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of this wonderful anthology. Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop. The stories kept me wanting more. Once a story ended, I had to see if the next writer could keep up. I was not disappointed. Are you looking for variety? This anthology has that. Is time a problem? Not with this book. The stories vary in length, and you do not have to read it in order. You can get a quick fix or plan a “just me” night reading to y...
A fun collection of short stories involving airships and blimps across several different genres. Horror, adventure, romance, sci-fi, and more. Pretty solid stories, the only problem I have with this anthology was that most of the female characters are too similar. This was easy to overlook because I liked the stories and I haven't read anything steampunk or clockpunk in awhile, but I did notice it. If you like plucky female characters who love pirates, machines, and steam engines then this is fo...
