Wonderful stories. With great historical insight of unusual situations, I greatly enjoyed these stories about life in early America. While there are 9 stories and 450 pages total, The first 4 stories follow the same group of characters, a delight to see different love stories develop and you get to see characters through different perspectives and what happens to them down the road. The last 5 stories stand alone as quick and interesting reads. NIce historical christian romances!
I didn't finish this anthology; yet the first four short stories by Carla Gade were very good. I was especially intrigued because they were set in Connecticut along the Connecticut River in the 1700s. Since I commuted between Hartford and the shoreline, following the River for 17 years, I knew the places mentioned and could easily picture the settings.
I read this collection in early November and then neglected to post a review because, from the first story, it had me so in the mood for more stories set in Colonial America. The first four of these "Nine Historical Romances [that] Grow Alongside a New Country"include two of my favorites from the collection. Set in 1750's and 1760's, introduce us to the four Ingersoll brothers of Connecticut and the women who capture their hearts. Each of these stories is followed by a related recipe.Another favo...
The American Dream Romance Collections is a collection of historical Christian stories from nine different authors combined into one book. The first four stories are written by different authors but each story builds on the other using different main characters and completely different authors. I really enjoyed these first books and thought Carla Olson Gade hit it out of the park with Carving A Future, giving the next three authors a great foundation to further their stories.I enjoyed most of th...
For me there just wasn't enough variety. No real depth to these stories. It's a romance; and although I know that's not my favorite area this was on sale for 2.99 and I gave it a go. It was a little cumbersome to hold to; but I'm just being petty now. I admit to having to skip some areas also; searching for a good story.
We follow stories about an entire family in Connecticut and their separate stories are written by different authors. Each chapter mentions a particular type of food and at the end of each chapter the recipe is given and a short bio on the author. I loved the historical background of it all. Job well done!

I honestly wanted to like this book. I loved the authors and the idea but I barely got my way through the first story. It packed such a punch getting you hooked in to the story. It dropped off from there. I had to force myself through the rest. I'm sorry.
A wonderful collection of novellas set across early America, from Colonial times up to the Civil War! I thoroughly enjoyed the variety of settings and the interesting history behind each story, especially the first set which revolved around four brothers: a ship's carver, captain, baker and doctor. The following tale, set on Mackinac Island during the French Indian War was one of my favorites, with an English soldier torn between his duties and heritage, falling in love with a French fur trappe...
The American Dream Romance Collection: Nine Historical Romances Grow Alongside A New Country (Love & Romance Collections) A delightful historical collection filled with heartwarming stories of early America spanning the years 1753-1843. I like that the first four novellas are interconnected and tell the stories of four brothers, the Ingersoll family. These four novellas include recipes from a historical cookbook pertaining to each story. I would have liked that there was some family connection c...
So worth reading!First off, I love the book itself....the cover, the unique pages. I really enjoy getting my hands on these wonderful Collections. It is a great way to sample new-to-me authors before getting novel-length books written by them. In this collection, it starts out with 4 authors who weave a continued storyline together, beginning with Carla Olson Gade's Carving A Future. Let me just say that Carla grabs you from the start! I have read these first 4 stories and highly recommend them....
Rated 4.5 - A great Christian romance anthology filled with nine captivating novellas that are perfect for those who love early American history.I requested this book when I found out there was a story that takes place in 1753, because I love that year in colonial America more than anything. This collection is a treasure trove of stories with a diversity that's sure to please a wide variety of historical romance lovers. An enjoyable way to find new-to-you authors and historical stories you've be...
As one of the authors of this novella collection I'm a bit biased, but truly The American Dream Romance Collection is fantastic! From the perfect title to the deckled edges, this book is filled with inspiring stories of characters who venture toward realizing their dreams in the newly founded America. A superb cadre of authors!
The first four stories are written about four brothers who find their wife during the time of beginnings for our country. The next three stories are written about the Quaker people and their quest for peace during a time of war. The last two stories are not connected, except for the theme of romance during our country's early history. Each story has romance, faith, and drama. Some of the stories have already been printed before, but the collection was nicely put together.I think my favorite stor...
