He rescues her and returns to get the final bit of information to have the gang leader and big boss arrested. Hoping that his responsibility in her escape wasn’t discovered. He had been raised in a Christian home. In the midst of all the excitement his high school sweetheart probes his current relationship with Jesus. Comparing in a small way - his willingness to sacrifice himself to save his mother and girlfriend to Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross so we could have a relationship with God the Father. Both were done for love.
