“Daniel in the Lion’s Den” was always one of my favorite
Bible stories! As an adult, I came to understand that
it was a thrilling tale of perseverance, consistent
service to God and patient waiting for God’s plan to be
unfurled in His own good way and time. Of course, as a
child, none of that came to mind, just the bone-chilling
thought of being put into a pit of hungry carnivores!
Daniel is virtually full of prophesy of future events.
However, Chapter Six seems to be a winding up of Daniel’s
experiences in captivity under different kings and rulers.
It precedes — what has been commonly thought to be —
the unfolding of mysterious events of the near and far
future.
Is Chapter Six only that though? Is it the end of Daniel’s
many adventures and just a child’s bedtime story of this
great man of faith surviving being cast into a den of lions?
I think not, and you will not either after I show you what I
stumbled on over thirty-four years ago.
