World English Bible British Edition: with Deuterocanon/Apocrypha

World English Bible British Edition: with Deuterocanon/Apocrypha

Michael Paul Johnson
0/5 ( ratings)
The World English Bible is a translation of the Holy Bible into modern English. People who speak English are blessed to have many translations available to them.

Although the wording of the World English Bible differs from all of the other translations, it doesn't differ by much from the best ones, because we are all seeking to preserve the meaning of the original language texts of the Bible. The main distinguishing factor of the World English Bible is that it is not a commercial project, and therefore not copyrighted, but intentionally dedicated to the Public Domain by the many volunteers who worked on it. We take the Word of God seriously. Keeping it accurate as well as readable is of primary importance. We pray that the Lord will be pleased with this Bible translation.

With the World English Bible, we consider it more important to honor God's directions inside the Holy Bible regarding sharing the Good News to be vastly more important than trying to make money off of the Bible. This frees us to grant you the following general permissions:

* You may copy and distribute any or all of the World English Bible freely, with no royalties required and no restrictions on the number of copies or reporting requirements.

* You may include quotations from the World English Bible in books you write—as much or as little as you like.

* You may publish the World English Bible on your web sites.

* You may use the World English Bible in Bible study applications and software.

* You may print the World English Bible and give it away or sell it as you please.

* You may make derivative works based on the World English Bible as long as you change the name of the changed text to avoid confusion.

* You may go to http://WorldEnglishBible.org or http://eBible.org and read or download the World English Bible in various other formats at no cost other than whatever your Internet access costs you.

The World English Bible has two editions. The original edition uses American English spelling and renders the proper name of God in the Old Testament as “Yahweh”. The British Edition uses British/International spelling, and uses “LORD” or “GOD” for God's proper name in the Old Testament. Both editions avoid using language that is unique to one region where English is spoken or language that is faddish or recently changed.

The World English Bible includes all 66 books of the Holy Bible that all Christians recognize as belonging in the canon of Scripture. In addition, we include books recognized as Deuterocanon by some denominations and as Apocrypha by others. These are clearly marked in an introduction to each of these books. The language updates of some of the Deuterocanon/Apocrypha books are still in progress, but they are readable enough and accurate enough now that we thought it valuable to include them in this publication.

This book exactly matches the master text of the World English Bible on eBible.org as of the 16th of March, 2015.
