This volume contains 5 novels, as well as 2 short stories, revolving around the character "Inspector Mallet" by one of the British Masters of Crime and Detective, Alfred Gordon Clark, known by his pen name "Cyril Hare".

It includes 2 novels exclusively of inspector Mallett; 2 short stories; and also includes 3 novels in which the stories cross with Francis Pettigrew, the other famous character by Hare. We included those novels in the Pettigrew collection; but, decided to incorporate them here as not all customers will purchase the other collection. One of these novels is Tragedy at Law, which has never been out of print, and is described as "among the best whodunnits set in the legal world" and as "the best detective story set in that fascinating world."

Also, is is worth pointing that his short stories, mostly written for the London Evening Standard, are considered outstanding.
