The Life of Buddha: According to the Legends of Ancient India

This is a biography of Buddha retold in a simple and engaging style.
It strings together a coherent narrative arc from the several classic
Buddhist texts, particularly the Buddhacharita of Asvaghosa , the
Lalita-Vistara, and the Jataka. It is thankfully free of technical
Buddhist terminology. This book dimensionalizes the story of
Siddhartha, born into luxury, who seeks and find enlightenment, the
sometimes painful growth of the Buddhist community, and his eventual
departure for Nirvana. It is short and very readable, and can be
recommended for young adults.

The Path of Light: A Manual of Mahayana Buddhism

“The following pages contain an abridged translation of the original
Sanskrit of theBodhicharyavatara, based upon two editions, that
contained in vol. ii. of the Journal of the Buddhist Text Society
and that published with Pranjakara-mati's commentary
by Professor L. de la Vallee Poussin in the Bibliotheca Indica. I have
omitted a good deal of the text where it seemed needlessly prolix, and
the whole of the scholastic disputation which makes up the bulk of the
ninth chapter. But I hope that even in this curtailed form my
translation will enable readers to understand and fairly appreciate
the fervent devotion and brotherly love which make this little book,
in spite of its errors, a lasting monument of true religious emotion,
"an everlasting possession."” - L. D. BARNETT.
