ALL-NEW Hawkeye? But... has Matt Fraction and David Aja’s Hawkeye even finished yet? It actually hasn’t - the final issue of the run, Hawkeye #22, is still several weeks away from publication! But it seems Marvel want to get the new series with the new creative team of Jeff Lemire and Ramon Perez going sooner rather than later to keep us Hawkeye fans sated after such long waits between issues (sigh, the price of quality!). Fraction and Aja, with Matt Hollingsworth, Annie Wu, and Javier Pulido am...
I LOVE THIS FIRST ISSUE!!! I can't wait to read more. I want more back ground story!!! Love both Hawkeye characters.
Very good.
Starting new Hawkeye is like dealing with The Doctor regenerating. Of course you miss and are nostalgic for the old one; but you quickly realize at it's core it's the same Hawkeye you know and love, just different. I'll always have a special place in my heart for Fraction and Aja's Hawkeye, but I'm ready for this new chapter. Bring it!
This is my first Hawkeye comic and it's fun! Clint and Kate interact really well together. The writing is good and the art looks cool.
I thought the art in the flashbacks was so beautiful!!
The flashbacks and the present-day story worked together fairly well, although I felt the storyline in the present was overly simplistic. My main issue with this new Hawkeye series is the art, which I seriously disliked. I'll probably keep reading anyway, since I love Hawkeye quite a bit, and just hope that I eventually get used to the art style.
The fact that another new comic series of Kate and Clint are going, makes me so happy.I liked the plot, and even more I liked the extra-stupid, extra-secret mission. The way Clint worries about his protégé it's so fucking cute. The art it's not one of my favorites, but anyway i'm just so happy that there's another comic series of Clint and Kate.
A worthy successor to Matt Fraction's run. This iteration uses a flashback retelling of Hawkeye's origin as a way to illustrate the reasons for his decisions in the present (not unlike the "Arrow" TV show, now that I think of it). The present-day story concentrates heavily on action, and has certain odd similarities to the anime movie Akira. The stormy partnership between Clint and Kate continues, and there's a simply lovely cliffhanger at the end of issue 6. I'm tempted to go out and rustle up
The jury is still out, but I'm reminding myself that, although it will definitely different than Fraction and Aja's, Lemire and Perez's run can be great. Issue 1 is promising, mostly due to the beautiful flashbacks, which, to me clearly show Lemire's influence in whimsical, melancholy mood and coloring, even if he's the writer, and not the writer-artist (as he frequently is). The flashbacks provide a good foundation for Clint's background, and the action keeps the attention, although I could've
This was an interesting start to this series but I don’t have much more to say about it. I like the way the flashbacks and current storyline are interwoven together. It’s really cool but I don’t know if I like the two different art styles together. It can read a little jarring. Kate and Clint’s dynamics are still top tier tough.
I was a bit leery about a new Hawkeye series missing Matt Fraction and David Aja, but when I flipped through and saw the blurry watercolor style art, I figured I'd give it a go. Good thing I did, too, because roughly 50% of the artwork was done in a style similar to David Aja's. The softer illustrations went with a flashback story about Clint and Barney as foster children, as Clint and Kate are on a mission to find something at a Hydra laboratory. This issue ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, so I w...
I look forward to issue #2. I really enjoyed the banter between the Hawkeye's and the time jumps. The artwork was kind of not my style though.
Ehhhhhh. Ok?So, I'm not terribly impressed or terribly disappointed. This could go either way, and I guess the only thing to do is keep reading. The art was somewhat jarring, though. Not bad, just...jarring, because it kept flashing between this:And this:Is it something that will annoy me in the long run? I'm not sure yet.Again, the only thing to do is keep reading, and see how it all turns out.Another problem could be that I still haven't been able to read the last volume of Fraction's Hawkeye.....
I liked the flashback in this issue, but I'm not crazy about the art. I think it was the color scheme in the flashback. I had a hard time with the pastels.
I always wanted to read Hawkeye's adventures, specially when he is in the company of lovely and sassy Kate Bishop. Just as awesome as I imagined it would be. The interactions between Kate and Clint are the best! I love them so much!
I miss the old colors. And not enough 'aww's here.
oh shit
A little bit short after I read the Fraction Comics. But still good
Erm....I didn’t hate it? And this might be an unpopular opinion, but Matt Fractions take on the character was way more enjoyable. I appreciate the backstory with his brother but I felt like the story overall lacked interest and direction. And as much as I hate to admit it...I really....REALLY didn’t like Kate in this volume. Which is unusual because she’s usually such a fun and dynamic character. It’s like they sucked all the fun out of her and made her surprisingly unlikable.
