Old Glory Honor Flight's Operation Legacy

Old Glory Honor Flight's Operation Legacy

Scott Delsart
0/5 ( ratings)
Old Glory Honor Flight of Northeast Wisconsin is devoted to transporting our World War II veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit the memorials in their honor, free of charge to the veteran. Hundreds of area veterans have already been taken on this "Tour of Honor." Our task, however, is far from over. Sadly, about 1,000 of these veterans pass away each day nation-wide, making time the greatest threat to our mission. The Greatest Generation has done nothing less than save our nation and even the world. For this, we owe it to them to forever preserve the stories from one of America's finest moments in history.

With this burden upon us, Old Glory Honor Flight has introduced Operation Legacy. The mission is to do all we can to preserve the honorable, self-less and heroic stories of freedom. This is done by inviting veterans to speak at local events or schools, because we believe educating the youth about the sacrifice that all veterans make is of utmost importance. We call this, "The Greatest Generation Teaching the Latest Generation."

Operation Legacy compiles those stories from Northeast Wisconsin veterans and their wartime experiences. Each story is unique; with different perspectives of the war-- this is how they saw the war through their eyes. This book of veteran's stories will be distributed to various local schools and libraries in support of our goal to preserve our veteran's legacy. One-hundred percent of all proceeds from the book will go directly into funding future Honor Flights to Washington, D.C.
