Dreaming is a universal phenomenon which can be entertaining, frightening or intriguing. There are several kinds of dreams including informative, health related, intuitive, precognitive and even visitation dreams.
• Dreams Reflect Waking Consciousness
This introductory book provides insight into the most common type of dream - the informative dream. This book will demonstrate how dreams inform you of the thoughts and attitudes about life situations. Too often, we focus on the happening and neglect to explore how we react or respond to the happening.
For example, something happens that disappoints you, perhaps you were not given a promotion. Thoughts might arise about how the boss favored someone else, or how the person that received the promotion manipulated circumstances.
The nighttime dream could help the dreamer refocus on his or herself. By focusing on the Self, the situation can become a stimulus to improve, to change, to gain more skills. In other words, dreams inform how to respond and become improved in some way.
• Symbology
This book uses symbology to interpret dreams. Exploring the relativity of a symbol to how it is used in our waking world is the beginning of understanding dream interpretation. For example, an automobile is a vehicle which is used in life to move from one place to another. The automobile represents the physical body which serves a similar purpose. Through physical experiences learning occurs and intelligence increases.
Money is a way we exchange value. Exchanging money for food, movie tickets, clothing provides a way to give value for what is received. For an individual, when money is predominant in dreams, it indicates the dreamer is learning about personal value. If the dreamer has found money, then the dreamer is discovering new ways that he or she is valuable. If the dreamer has lost money, or has money stolen, then this indicates that the dreamer needs to pay attention to and appreciate who and what he or she has to give.
* Application to Life
One of the most challenging parts of dream interpretation is applying the message to life. Some references for further study are included at the end of the book. For someone who wants to go from novice to expert, additional study will be required. The references are some that I am personally familiar with and recommend to anyone interested in furthering their understanding of dream interpretation.
