Once upon a time there were women so upset and angry at constant talk of nuclear war in 'The European Theatre' that they walked to an American nuclear base and stayed there. Soon the camp became women only. In December 1982 they invited women to hold hands all round the nine mile perimeter fence and 30,000 women came and it made headlines and suddenly everyone was talking about the Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp. Up and down the country women began doing direct actions...
Among them was the writer of this book, who wasn't tough enough to join the camp, but who made notes on everything she saw or took part in, stirring or scary, funny or sad, or just plain unique, including how difficult it was to be a part time activist. And eventually she wrote them up as a dramatic narrative.
