Adrian Holaday is a young, recently single social worker in the remote Northwest Angle of Minnesota. Her job, on paper anyway, is to become a part of the lives of the community's the mentally ill, dangerous, broken, and abused. In her community, where resources are rare, Adrian finds unconventional ways to solve her problems. In one particular case, she makes things much worse. Dedicated to putting things right, Adrian teams up with local law enforcement to put things right. After several fumbles, a few insults to her personal integrity, and a night spent alone in a quarry with a hot but possibly dangerous man, things eventually turn out the way they were meant to be.
Despite the heavy subject matter of domestic abuse, grief, and mental illness, the book has many elements of humor and will be an effortless read.
