Katchen's Continued Story: A German Girl Like Me Book 2

Katchen's Continued Story: A German Girl Like Me Book 2

Joseph R. Costa
0/5 ( ratings)
In March of 1941, war in Europe rages and the story of the German girl Ktchen and her family continues. Now a young woman, Ktchen had been sent by her family to the safety of America prior to the outbreak of war. But with mail service cut off, she has lost contact with them. Her boyfriend Rolf, whose bomber was shot down over England, is a German Prisoner Of War being transported to Canada. Ktchen and Rolf's experiences in this book are a little known story of World War II history here in North America.
Meanwhile, Katchen's family is still back in Hamburg, Germany living under Nazi rule. After the horrendous bombing of Hamburg in July 1943, they escape to live with an aunt in a small town in central Germany. Food becomes scarce as the war deteriorates for Germany. Following the capture their town, the American occupiers have little sympathy for them or their plight. Having survived the war, their hardships continue as they must endure a lack of food aid, widespread destruction of cities, lawlessness of freed laborers and one of the worst German winters in memory. Theirs is a story of the miserable conditions in Germany during and after the war.
Ktchen and her family were not part of Hitler's rise to power and takeover of Germany, but they like many others would suffer the pain and consequences of Hitler's rule and war. Ktchen's is a story of love, endurance and hope, woven through the real events and circumstances of World War II.
