Rose Joint and Slicks: An Uphill Racers Tale 2014 (Blog Diary)

Rose Joint and Slicks: An Uphill Racers Tale 2014 (Blog Diary)

I have competed in a lesser known motor racing discipline called Speed Hill Climbing and Sprinting for many, many years. My fellow competitors and I, drive our specially prepared race cars up tarmac drives and on short temporary air field circuits, racing against the one great enemy we all have, time.
Speed Hill Climbing, which is often confused with but is completely different too another discipline called Trialling, takes places between the months of March and October every year and often involves leaving our homes at very obscene times of the morning, traversing all over the country, trawling many miles of motorway and by-roads in order to arrive at our destination, compete for a very short amount of time and then return back, via the same tortuous route, exhausted, elated or just simply satisfied with a job well done.
I have always enjoyed talking about my hobby and over the years, I have also enjoyed writing about it. In 2013 I decided to create a Blog diary and my web site, www.fragileracing.com allows fellow Speed Hill Climbers and followers of my sport, the chance to enjoy and relive the events that I have competed at throughout the year.
After letting my father in law Bob read the completed diary at the season’s end, he commented that it might be a nice idea if people like him, that weren't computer literate, had a chance to read it and enjoy. I agreed and decided to send a copy off to the printers, selling them to cover the printing costs, I sold every copy I had printed and so decided to repeat the task this year. As 2014 was the 25th year in my chosen sport, I thought it might be nice to spread the word a little further, producing not only a printed booklet but also create an e-book and so, thanks to the wonders of the modern world, here we have it.
Whichever way you read this book, I hope you enjoy. Each chapter was written within a few hours of each event, recording both the highs, lows and general passion of someone that really does enjoy what he does. Enjoy the journey
