More Than a Lifetime

More Than a Lifetime

Denise Parkin
5/5 ( ratings)
Julie Garret and her daughter, Jade, meet Sam Clark during Jade's most recent hospitalization for a diabetic episode and cancer. He quickly becomes friends with Julie, who he has been in love with for 10 years, and father figure for Jade. Sam proves to be a supportive and caring presence in their lives. That he was a vampire caused neither of them any concern because vampires had been recognized as citizens of the United States, once they made a conversion from human blood to animal blood as their diet. This happened in 1863 as a result of an amendment to the Emancipation Proclamation by President Abraham Lincoln. When Jade's cancer metastasizes to her brain, she reminded her mother of her Living Will requirements. She leaves AMA to go home to die. While Jade hovers on the brink of death, Sam decides to take her and her mother to his isolated cabin in the mountains. Julie wonders if Jade can make the transition to vampire legally. Sam brings his lawyer friend, Drew to the cabin and they begin to research case law. Drew found an obscure case that detailed how Jade could make the transition. Drew wrote a document for Jade to sign, so that it could happen. Jade insisted that Sam and Julie get married before the actual change started.. They did. As Drew added the small bag of vampire venom to her IV, Sam takes Julie out of the house and for a long drive. Things are changing for Julie and she struggles to take them in stride. How will Jade react to the venom? How will she handle the almost overpowering love she feels for Sam?
