Extended Play: A Novel

Extended Play: A Novel

Nate Ragolia
0/5 ( ratings)
In 1973, music writer Miles Smart gets the assignment of his young career, an interview with rising country starlet Lorna Buckaroo. To Miles' surprise, he immediately falls for Lorna's demure, artistic sister, Caroline.

In 2009, Miles is editor-in-chief of Fifths, a dying music magazine. Money, women, fame, and prestige surround him, but he has one regret: Caroline Buckaroo. When Fifths's farewell tour reopens doors from his past, Miles finds himself with a second chance to rewrite his life, and redeem his future.

Over the course of two years in Miles's life--36 years apart--Extended Play tells the story of a man's paths, ideals, and selfs dividing and converging.

Like the needle of an old record player riding the grooves of time, Extended Play uses satire, parody, and music nostalgia to accent a story about idealizing life in youth, questioning it in maturity, and trying to go back to start again. Extended Play is a novel about love, music, fame, and how we succeed and fail in learning from our mistakes.
