Dark and creepy as fuck. Chapman takes you on a journey into the black void of the human heart in a post apocalyptic world that has to be read to be believed. Highly recommended.
Stephen King was quoted as saying, "An opening line should invite the reader to begin the story. It should say: Listen. Come in here. You want to know about this."With an opening line of: "The after-world was a canvas of ashen ruin painted by death.", I firmly believe Greg hit the nail on the head. The dictionary defines an Eschatologist as "one centrally concerned with eschatology or an eschatological belief, teaching, or interpretation (as of scripture)"; that is "a branch of theology concerned...
The Followers is about a family trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. But they're thrown from the frying pan into the fire when the prophet Amos rescues them from being attacked. They're taken to a compound, a "church" where everyone seems happy to be there... until the ceremony. This was a dark little tale with some ugly twists and plenty of brutality. The characters were interesting, and it moved at a nice pace. I enjoyed reading The Followers with its illustrations and recommend it t...
An excellent book. My favourite horror is suspense and this book was jammed packed full of it. This book is much more unique due to the setting and religious overtones, rather than just demons/ghosts/ghouls etc., which I think added substance to the book. I found the MC extremely intriguing and very well developed. All characters were well written with realistic interplay between them. My favourite character was the daughter and I really connected with her. The writer captured her youth, nativit...
Review copyLet's start with a quick definition of the term Eschatology. Here's what the Merriam-Webster dictionary has to say, Eschatology. plural es·cha·tol·o·gies. 1 : a branch of theology concerned with the final events in the history of the world or of humankind. The Eschatologist takes that definition and delivers a novella that embodies the very idea of religion in a post apocalyptic world.Greg Chapman opens the story with a gripping opening line, "The after-world was a canvas of ashen ruin...
Wow, what a great story. It sent chills down my spine as I read it. It felt so real, the situation so terrifying and out of control that I did not want to put it down.If you like your stories on the dark side and enjoyed The Stand by Stephen King, then this is the book for you.
A quick read with wonderful character development and a plot that gives a different spin to the religious cult setting that's commonly found in the horror genre. It reminded me of Shirley Jackson's, The Lottery mixed with Dan Brown's, Angels and Demons. Highly recommended!
Reviews of my novella...“The Eschatologist” is a short story by Greg Chapman sold as a stand-alone eBook (and a slim paperback) by Voodoo Press. It is a story of faith as the world is taking its final turn. There is a lot crazy in here, ladies and gentlemen, and a lot of blood. And no happy fucking ending, I can tell you that for a mortal fact. Bleak, grim, and depressing. Chapman had the right idea keeping this one short. If it had been written to novel length it would have been too much to tak...
