During a span of three weeks, I spent mornings with naturalists from the Audubon Society banding birds. We started our trek through the woods at 5 am! First, we unfurled the ten nets and then once an hour we checked them to disentangle the birds. The birds were brought back to the banding station where they were identified, tagged, sexed, aged, sized, and weighed. Finally, they were let go, but not before the naturalists accumulated data to go into a National Database for researchers to use to study migratory patterns of birds. I hope you enjoy this adventure!
