THE POTENTIAL MANAGERS
Every organization need the service of a manager at least one to drive the activities of the organization but some big organizations like banks, communication companies need more than one managers for their smooth running’s, they combine the four factors of production and as such they are the risk taker for the operation to move on, they runs the entire business as if it’s their own at times they sleep in the office if it is necessary. They get applause and rewards for good the job, and at the same time they can get suspension or sacked for their wrong action.
I have a friend that works with a communication company MTN to be precise, he works 24/7 and at times I wonder if he does go for break or leave.
It’s the dream of every young workers to be in their shoes because they are like idol with expensive live style; expensive shoes, expensive house, expensive cars.etc. Hey, what about the hazardous side of their work? People don’t care to see it. The saying that “he who that wares the shoe knows where it pitches”
Some get to their office as soon as early 5.00 am and return around 10.00 p.m, and some around 12.00 p.m. they don’t get to see their children except their wife that will keep night virgin to see her husband and before the children say Daddy good morning, is gone. Only for their mother to carry them to meet him in the office or during the day time, he show them love by taking them out and buying things for them.
The nagging wife always chase man out, he will rather spend the holiday with friends to avoid fighting with their mother, you know women could be annoying at times with their nosing aptitude.
There is a clear difference between a manager and a potential manager.
1. Most of the manager were like the toothless bull dog who can only bark but cannot bite, they wait for instructions from their boss on any matter and they give him feedback on everything that goes on in the business, and that what they were hired for.
2. Some supervisors get to the post of a manager without adequate training to handle the post. That were they will be making mistakes because they were not trained.
3. Wrong method of selection: Some business owners base their selection on tribalism, favoritism and nepotism not qualification or experience in the field of operation. They favor people of their tribes because they speak the same language or they have the same color.

All these aptitudes will not allow the organization to grow well, what can make the Organization to succeed is to put the right person in place or by giving both the new and the existing staffs some adequate training.
THE QUALITIES OF A MANAGER:
We all know that managers are the drivers of the Organization and for any organization to have a land mark achievement right person must be the person with the right aptitude must be the manager.
1. High work motivation i.e. such a person gets a major part of his satisfaction from his work and sets him high standards of achievement as well as having a willingness and determination to perform well.
2. The person should be determined to develop himself rather than to wait for others to offer him opportunities i.e. rather than waiting for them to occur.
3. The desire to do well economically as there is no doubt that financial rewards usually reflect achievement and recognition of ability.
4. The ability to take a broad view of a problem, coupled with a sense of reality. To be able to assess the global implications with the organization as a whole.
5. Sensitivity to the feelings of others in the Organization and a well developed ability to pick up signals how other people feel about an issue. This enables him to initiate action to prevent problems, rather than having to resolve issues.
