Babe's Place: The Lives of Yankee Stadium

Babe's Place: The Lives of Yankee Stadium

Michael Wagner
3/5 ( ratings)
This 620 page e-book tells the history of the New York Yankees and Yankee Stadium. Included is the history leading up to the opening of Yankee Stadium in 1923. The main focus of the book is the renovation of Yankee Stadium from October 1973 thru early 1976. Featured are about 250 photos, which include the original Yankee Stadium, Babe Ruth, the Yankees at Shea Stadium in 1974 and 1975, and over 150 never before seen photos of the renovation's progress. I went to the Stadium 13 times during this 2 1/2 year project and have over 100 pages of text devoted to it. I've also interviewed people who worked on the 1970's remodeling of Yankee Stadium. Also, I have written responses and interviews of about 200 former baseball players, umpires, and baseball executives regarding their feelings about the renovation. There are also over 125 responses regarding their views about the demolition of Yankee Stadium in 2010. I began this project in 2003. This is the most detailed book of the renovation ever.
