Biography:
Spiritual author, Silja Walter, lived a cloistered life as a Catholic religious sister for many years at the Fahr Abbey, a monastery of the Benedictine Order, in Switzerland. This provided the backdrop for volumes of writing, and other works of art from a remarkable yet very humble woman.

Her name at birth was Cécile Walter. She was born into the famous publishing family of Walter Verlag in the Rickenback village in Solothurn, Switzerland. At age twenty-nine, in 1948, already known as a promising young poet, she joined the monastery outside of Zürich that she would call, “the abbey at the edge of the city.”

Her award-winning legacy of over 60 publications include a wide variety of poetry, fiction, and theology. She was also an artist and choreographer of liturgical dance and her lyrical sensibilities move throughout all of her creative works.
