My Positive Face Of Disfigurement: A True Story

My Positive Face Of Disfigurement: A True Story

David Bird
0/5 ( ratings)
This is an account of my life story, of how I learned to live with a very rare congenital medical condition called a Vascular Anomaly. I was born with a disfigurement to the right side of my head, face, eye and mouth, through the years I have had to learn to cope with the rudeness of some people who were constantly staring, calling me names and most of all intimidating. Life was so hard and I felt lost and so lonely.

Several attempts at chatting girls up ended by me giving up all hope of ever meeting someone special, someone who would care for me and treat me as a normal human being. Just by fate I happened to go to a party and came across that someone.

With the help of my very dear family, friends and a charity called Changing Faces I began to gain such a wonderful strength within myself, this enabled me to go and stand out in front of local groups giving talks about my life, and telling how the charity enables people like myself gain confidence.

My childhood was a very happy one, but you will find this story has some sadness because of the trials and tribulations of my teenage years and early adult days, but eventually ending in a wonderful life
