This is a great romance. I love romances that have deeper, serious themes. This one has a pervading theme of past losses and how one chooses to live with the fears caused by those losses. Both of the main characters have their own issues to deal with here and, in each other, they find the comfort and the challenge to face their own demons. I even teared up a few times at their pain. The best of Christie Ridgeway's that I've read yet.
2 StarsThere were a lot of things about this book I didn't like. The characters (all of them annoyed me); the plot (I don't think anything actually happened). This book had me rolling my eyes a bunch of times.I'm mostly disappointed because this was picked for book club, and I can only hope that some of the members enjoyed it. It had a great premise, but the execution did not work.
My very first and still yet favorite Ridgway book. I fell hook, line and sinker for that dang astronaut!
Didn't finish after chapter 2. Ugh why??? Why put in so many stupid romance novel cliches in your story? I seriously wish I could ask this and all other authors who do this why it is that they do it! This could have been a cute, unique and interesting story if it weren't for the stupid, Corny, eye rolling cliches. Such as, when Zoe first sees Yeager from very far away, he gives her all these spine tingly feelings which "is just so out of character for her". And he just illuminates light! Oh brot...
I read this for the new Novel Expectations book club and Goodreads Group and didn't really know what to expect. I haven't read much from the romance genre lately and had mixed feelings about it. Sometimes the characters rubbed me the wrong way, which made it difficult to root for them. I thought is was odd that the male main character seemed to care more that his accident had caused him to lose his sex drive than his vision. I tend to enjoy romance books that don't involve a lot of graphic sex s...
Enjoyable tale with a hero who's recovering from a bad motorcycle accident and a heroine who's clinging to her island home as the only place she can feel safe. Both of the characters are well rounded and interesting, and they have a great connection together. A subplot about her sister and his friend helps to round out the book. I felt like the setup was unique and the author took advantage of the circumstances the characters are in. All in all, a fun read.
Deserves more than five stars! This book is at least in the top three books I have read this year. (I read at least one a day). It is a great read that manages to tell two love stories without skimping on either. It also shares a look at an island community that supports each other in a way that people rarely do in this hooked up, turned on technology age. I would love to read more stories from this community.
Captain America Sexy. Handsome. Totally all man. Astronaut Yeager Gates was all that as well as a very broken man. Having been in a motorcycle accident which rendered his blind due to head trauma, Yeager wasn't ready to face his the loss of his career and life. How does one heal from such pain and loss? One simply runs away. Or does he?
I hated this book, and am mad at myself for finishing it. Yaeger was a domineering womanizer who can't imagine that life won't go the way he wants it, nor that any woman actually doesn't want him, so he doesn't take no for an answer. Zoe is a control-freak, and yet a doormat when she thinks someone needs her. I liked Zeke and Lissy's story more than Yaeger and Zoe.
The Amazon blurb on the book didn't prepare me for the laughter I was going to have while reading this. Ridgway writes some very witty dialogue that I just adore! This is a funny, charming, witty, sexy and fantastic read. I love her writing style, not only witty but smart and engrossing. Characters are well written and entertaining.Just downloaded another of her books!
Waiting on a FishThis is a great story about hopes, dreams and pure determination of all the characters in it. You can picture the island, the people, and the fish. Small village living at its finest.
Great readI enjoyed this book. A little longer than was needed but there were two love stories in here. I liked the sister's love story better and would have liked more of a balance from them both but it was 2 HEAs which is excellent.
A sweet but spicy storyA sweet love story and I love the characters some spicy scenes not suitable for teens , the setting was beautiful, and the author did a good job making you feel like you were there on the beach. I recommend this book to mature readers.
This is a unique, emotional book. The characters are believable, the plot gives us real life issues and the writing is uniquely Christie Ridgway's. The book involves 2 sisters and 2 best friends who overcome their own issues to find HEA.
DecentThe heroine is a little too afraid to live her life got my tastes, but otherwise it's a classic Ridgway romance.
PerfectGreat read. The story line was really good. Two sisters who have endured so much loss and two men who have lost come together for a happy ever after.
Great story but predictableKept me reading even though the end was very predictable throughout the story. Would recommend as a cheesy holiday read.
BrilliantBrilliant read couldn't leave it down from start to finish, pure tale off happiness in this story. I hope you all enjoy as much as I did
A nice enjoyable read.
Free Ebook Sisters live on an island, he's had a accident and is temporarily blind. His friend brings him to the island to recoup. Destiny works her magic
I loved Zoe and Yeager. They were such cute characters with such a fun friendship that made the book a breeze to get through.
A quick read with an original plot and characters who did not always seem realistic but sometimes tended toward cliches. Had to skim a few pages of sexual descriptions.
Pretty goodA pretty good story layout. Kept you wondering if the CE was going to break between both couples. It was a predictable read by the middle.
What a great romance. This one really has some depth to it.
Love Christie Ridgeway I just didn't enjoy this particular story.
Innkeeper and astronaut, both with hangups. How they are resolved is the premise of the book. Worth reading.
very good light read.
This was a very cheesy and predictable story. No depth. Would recommend for mindless beach reading but that is all.
