Giselle Walker is ready for a summer break. She’s put in a hard year of work at Carbondale High School as a Biology teacher, and she is looking forward to her weeklong trip to Rocky Mountain National Park with her two best friends, Carla and Jasmine. Richard Thompson is one of Giselle’s recently graduated students. When his mother asks Giselle to watch him for a week in the summer, Giselle obliges. The week he is staying just happens to be the week she goes to Rocky Mountain National Park.

The trip begins as planned, and everyone is excited to be outdoors. Giselle is the leader of the group, and the one with the most experience. What she doesn’t plan for, however, is the presence of the alpha wolves in the park. Giselle meets Owen and Oracle, two of the alphas from the Diamond Pack. She learns of their mysterious powers and she discovers that she plays a part in their lineage continuation.

Giselle is captivated by their presence, and she decides that it might be harder to head back home than she expected. She is eventually torn between returning to civilization, to her job and to her familiarity, and remaining in the forest with the wolf shifters. The decision she makes must be the right choice, but it is an increasingly difficult one to make.
