Shiv K. Kumar is one of the most distinguished Indian-English poets. He has been described by the Oxford Companion to Modern Poetry as 'the most senior poets of the new post-independence Indian English poetry.' His poems have been published in the New York Times, Poetry , Western Humanities Review, Ariel, etc., and broadcast over the BBC.
He has authored thirteen collections of poetry, six novels, two collections of short stories, a play, a translation of Faiz Ahmed Faiz into English, and several books of literary criticism - published by Random House, Penguin, Harper Collins, Oxford, MacMillan, Sidgwick Jackson, etc.
He has received several Indian and international honours including a Fellowship of the Royal Society of Literature , Padma Bhushan and Sahitya Akademi award.
