Frozen Horizons: The World's Largest National Park

Frozen Horizons: The World's Largest National Park

Tim Davies
0/5 ( ratings)
The world's largest national park is in Northeast Greenland and is easily big enough to hold both France and all of Germany. Unfortunately not many of us make it to such northerly parts.
Now this book enables the reader to become acquainted with the vast nature reserve: together with the hunter in search of the polar bear; with the archaeologist, tracking down the inhabitants of bygone ages; with the climatologists on the Inland Ice; with the watch on the sledge patrol; and with scientists in search of rare flowers, animals and insects.
Ivars Silis has travelled exensively in Northeast Greenland for several years, inter alia taking part in a wide range of scientific expeditions. In this book he captures the incredible diversity of the nature reserve, the draw of the great scenic landscapes and man's struggle in this environment.
As a photographer and gripping narrator he conveys both the cool inventorization of the scientist and the inquisitive and committed experience of the ordinary person.
A set amount of the proceeds from the sale of this book goes to the Greenland Environment Fund.
