Claudia Davies has a problem and his name is Benton Graves. Legally the father of two young girls that Claudia has legal responsibility for, Benton wants his daughters back. He’s never forgiven his young wife, Eleanor, for walking out on him, taking the girls back to Ohio from their ranch in Wyoming.

Claudia took on responsibility for her friend’s daughters as Eleanor became weaker. When she finally passed away, Claudia had no choice but to notify Benton, but she never dreamed the impossible, old-fashioned rancher would actually show up in Ohio and try to get the girls!

Benton knows he made many mistakes and should have gone after his wife and children a long time ago. A man has his pride, though, and he always hoped she would answer his letters and come back to him. That was not to be, and when he received notification about settling her estate, he knows he’s waited too long and heads to Ohio to get his daughters back. What he doesn’t see coming is his wife’s impossible friend, Claudia, who has legal custody of the girls and has no intention of letting Benton take them.

Claudia is sure that the judge, an old family friend, will see her side of the matter and will send Benton packing. When Claudia and Benton appear in the courtroom for the custody hearing, each confident that they have the winning case, they learn that Judge Brandenberry has different ideas, and suddenly the impossible rancher has an Impossible Wife!
